Recently arrived, studying or just moved house? Find a Sydney Anglican church with Mandarin or Cantonese services by area and by language.
Moving to Sydney means starting over with a lot of things: housing, a bank account, schools. If you'd also like a church where you can worship in Chinese and make friends, here's a simple three-step way to find one.
Step 1: Start with where you live
Sydney is big. A church within about 20 minutes of home is much easier to keep attending. We group Sydney Anglican churches with Chinese services into six areas:
- North Shore & Ryde: e.g. Eastwood, Epping, Artarmon, Killara
- Hills: e.g. Carlingford, West Pennant Hills, Baulkham Hills
- Parramatta & West: e.g. Parramatta, Granville, Lidcombe, Auburn
- South-West: e.g. Bankstown, Campsie, Cabramatta
- St George: e.g. Hurstville, Kogarah, Penshurst
- City & East: e.g. St Andrew's Cathedral, UNSW
Step 2: Choose your language
- Mandarin: Mandarin churches in Sydney
- Cantonese: Cantonese churches in Sydney
- Prefer a local English church but need help with English: English churches with Chinese translation
- University students: Chinese student groups
Every church page lists service times, address, map and contacts. Times change occasionally, so check the church page or contact the church before your first visit.
Step 3: Visit before you decide
You don't need to pick "the one" straight away. Many people visit two or three churches first, then settle in one. Not sure what a first visit is like? Read First time at church: what to expect.
Not sure which one? Ask us
Contact us with your suburb, your language and whether you have children, and we'll do our best to suggest a church that suits you.
